What am I supposed to drink?

I drink a ton of water.  At least 100 oz a day.  I shoot for 125, but that’s REALLY hard.  I don’t drink regular pop, for obvious reasons. I’ve quit all diet pop (I’m from Chicago, don’t forget that.  It’s Pop to us…soda to pretty much everybody else in the free world!)…Crystal Lite.  In short, I’ve quit all artificial sweetners, including Splenda, Aspartame, and whatever is in the pink packet…saccharin, I believe.  All of that crap is pure poison, and will kill you quicker than sugar.  So I’m completely stuck.  After a while, I get really tired of drinking water…and I want something else…especially at lunch and dinner.  AND I want it to be calorie free.  I’m killing myself on tea, too.  To replace the sweetners and sugar, I started using Stevia, a natural sweetner made from a plant.  It’s not bad…different…not nearly as sweet as the ”poison,” but you get used to it.  Perhaps I could buy some old school Kool-Aid packets, and make some of my own with the Stevia.  Hmmm..that’s an idea.

Let me know if you folks have any ideas for me!

(Oh yeah…and they have this silly rule about not being able to drink beer at work.  So, I’ve unfortunately had to scratch that one off of my list as well.  I personally think that I’d be a hell of a lot more productive…but the suits tend to disagree.)

How about water with a splash of fruit like real lemon or orange (I like the word splash). Heck, maybe orange juice. It may have some extra calories in it but it still has good nutritional benefits too. Good luck finding some good answers and have a great weekend!

My husband drinks water with lemon juice. It’s quite sour at first, but really refreshing.

You know what I had at a restaurant once? Water with cucumber in it. I really liked it. But umm…I’ve got no help on what to drink. I drink like four things:
water, tea, cofee, and wine…ok five..and beer.

    mmm…beer

    propel fitness water!

not to sound like a nike ad or whoever puts it out, but it’s quite yummy, and i think it has 30 calories in one of those huge bottles. treat yourself to one on a workout day. it’s supposed to have electrolytes, which i don’t know what the hell they do, but they seem to make me feel a little more revitalized during my workout. also, you are allowed to drink it without splashing it all over your face unlike those gatorade commercials. hehe =]

Stevia is actually really good! It is made from a plant. Have you seen the flavored stevia’s? I buy root beer flavored, and make rootbeer with sparkling water! They have coffee flavored, orange juice flavored, grape and tons more!

If you’re looking for a sweet drink… you could make your own sweet tea or go healthy and sqeeze lemons or orange or other fruit and sweetening it with stevia (I found stevia made kool-aide taste odd to me, but I’m weird! Probably just too used to it with a 1/2 tonne of sugar!)

And we up here in Canada call it Pop too!!

I don’t know if you have a juicer but veggie juices are actually not as disgusting as they sound. Especially sweet ones like carrot, celery and ginger. They’re really good for you too. They are a lot of effort though (I hate cleaning my juicer). I have a couple of favourite teas that I enjoy too. One is called Black Adder (might be an Australian brand) it has licorice root in it and is really sweet and refreshing. I also like moroccan tea - it’s a blend of peppermint and green tea so it’s not overpowering like peppermint and not bitter like green tea. Not a big fan of fruit teas though.

We call it pop here in Indiana too! :D Do you drink any milk at all?? I don’t even though I should. On days that I need something other than water, I drink a small glass of skim milk. Mcdonald’s has a pretty good unsweetened tea. I am not a fan of the artificial sweetners either. I jsut really don’t like the taste of them but I have yet to try Stevia. Well, good luck with finding something else to drink! Have a great night!

In the South, it’s Coke whether you’re having a Pepsi or an orange or whatever. When you ask, “Do you want a coke?” Everybody knows you mean a soft drink not just a coke.

As for substitutes for water, I don’t have any because I’m still on the sweeteners. You gotta die from something. : )

I just had to lol at debbie’s comment. Yes, in the south everything is a coke. My friend from michigan would get so confused over this…lol
